Aquasana Rhino Whole House Water Filters
If you are looking for a whole house water filter system that can efficiently remove chlorine, heavy metals, and other contaminants from your water, the Aquasana Rhino collection would be a great choice. There are three models we’d like to share with you: the Aquasana Rhino EQ 600, the Aquasana Rhino EQ 1000, and the Aquasana Rhino 500,000 gallon well water Rhino. You can breathe easy knowing that all of these models provide delicious filtered water, free of herbicides, pesticides, mercury, lead, and more.
Aquasana 600,000 Gallon Rhino and the Aquasana 1,000,000 Gallon Rhino
Both of these Rhino models offer the same benefits, except the latter is able to filter more gallons of water during its lifetime. The Aquasana EQ 600 Rhino Whole House Filter lasts for 6 years or 600,000 gallons, while the Aquasana Rhino EQ 1000 lasts for 10 years or 1,000,000 gallons.
So, what makes both of these models a great choice for any household? Well, both the Aquasana Rhino 1,000,000 and the Rhino 600,000 filter out 97% of chlorine from all the water in your home.
But they don’t just stop there – both models also remove other contaminants like mercury, lead, pesticides, herbicides, volatile organic chemicals, and industrial solvents. You can rest easy knowing that you are drinking, as well as cooking and showering with clean water.
Did you know that having a whole house water filter can actually improve the quality of your home’s air as well? That’s because shower steam can contain contaminants from impure water. When the steam evaporates, those chemicals are now in the air you breathe. By installing an Aquasana Rhino EQ-600 or EQ-1000 whole house water filter system, the water in your entire home will be filtered, thus purifying even the steam from your shower.
Superior Filtration
The Aquasana Rhino EQ-1000 Whole House Filtration System (as well as its 600,000 gallon counterpart) is comprised of carefully designed purification stages. The water runs through several filtration processes:
- Sediment Pre-Filter: This catches sediment, rust, and silt.
- Optional Salt-Free Water Conditioner: This part of the process prevents the buildup of scale.
- Mineral Stone and Copper-Zinc: The filter reduces chlorine, scale, water-soluble and heavy metals. It also prevents algae and bacterial growth.
- Activated Carbon Filter: This process reduces the presence of pesticides, herbicides, and other chemical compounds.
- Optional Post-Filter: The of the filtration process reduces any organic particles or sediment that was not caught in the previous stages.
- Optional UV Filter: With the UV filter, you can protect yourself against viruses or bacteria that might reside in your water.
What’s more, due to the innovative technology used to create the Aquasana 1,000,000 gallon Rhino filtration and the 600,000 gallon version, it safely and naturally reduces internal scale buildup without the use of harsh chemicals or salt.
Aquasana Rhino EQ-1000 and EQ-600 Installation
The Aquasana 600,000 and 1,000,000 gallon Rhino installations mind the same steps, which are as follows:
Step 1: Pre-condition the Rhino tank. To do this, connect it to a garden hose and turn the faucet on. Leave it running for about 15 minutes. Due to carbon fines, the first several gallons will be black and cloudy. Next, begin to surge flush the tank. Turn the water on and off for 30 seconds each until the water runs clear. This should take another 15 minutes.
Step 2: Pick a location. You must install the unit in a location where the main water line enters the house before it connects to your water heater. Be sure to turn off the main water source before you install the unit.
Step 3: Prepare the Rhino tank. Wrap the pipe’s nipples with plumber’s tape, and then connect them to the system’s outlet and inlet.
Step 4: If you are installing on copper pipes, install two grounding clamps, as well as a #4 copper wire, where the unit will be placed. If you are installing the unit on PVC pipes instead of copper, skip this step and proceed to step 5.
Step 5: Install the Shut-Off Valve. Use a pipe cutter to cut into the main water supply line. Loosely fit shut-off valve so that you can calculate how much space you need for the unit’s components. Measure the distance you need for the pre-filter, tank, and any optional add-ons.
Step 6: Cut pipes along the measured distances and clean the ends of the pipe, making sure that they are smooth.
Step 7: Configure the system. Fit the Rhino tank and any add-ons into the system. Screw the pre-filter support bracket into the wall and attach the pre-filter component. Connect the entire system together using PVC glue, barbed fittings, slip fittings, etc. Make sure the parts are flowing through the IN port in accordance with water flow.
Step 8: Check the system. Once any glue has dried, turn the water on slowly and check for leaks. Then, turn on the closest faucet and let it run for several minutes. Now your system is all set up and ready to use.

Aquasana 600,000 and 1,000,000 Gallon Rhino Maintenance
A Rhino EQ-600 comes with a 10” pre-filter, which should be replaced every two months. The Rhino EQ-1000 comes with a 20” pre-filter, which also needs to be replaced every two months. As for the main filter unit, the EQ-600 should be replaced every six years, while the EQ-1000 should be replaced every 10 years.
If you chose to add on a post-filter for either system, it should be replaced every 6 – 12 months, depending on the sediment levels of your water.
Aquasana 600,000 and 1,000,000 Gallon Rhino Repair
When you purchase an Aquasana Rhino model, it will be covered under a limited warranty. For the EQ-600, you will receive a 6-year warranty.
During this period of time, Aquasana will replace the product’s defective part – and, if necessary, they will even send detailed instructions so that a licensed plumber can make the repair. For the EQ-1000, you will receive a 10-year limited warranty, rather than 6 years. Keep in mind, though, that clogs are not covered. In order to prevent clogging, you must be sure to replace the pre-filters every two
Aquasana 500,000 Gallon Well Water Rhino
The Aquasana Rhino 6-Stage 500,000 Gallon Well Water Filtration System is the premier choice for people who want pure, clean well water. This filter was designed specifically to protect well water from viruses, bacteria, and other contaminants.
Just like with the other Rhino models, the 500,000 Gallon Well Water Rhino protects from heavy metals such as mercury and lead, herbicides, pesticides, and industrial solvents. The main difference is that this model does not filter out chlorine. It simply isn’t necessary, since well water doesn’t contain chlorine.
With the 500,000 Gallon Well Water model, you’ll receive the sediment pre-filter, the copper-zinc and mineral stone filter, the activated carbon filter, and the UV filter. The only add-on is the post-filter, which reduces any remaining organic and sediment particles.
Aquasana 500,000 Gallon Well Water Rhino Installation
The Aquasana 500,000 Gallon Well Water Rhino follows the same installation process as the other Rhino models. However, the UV filter will need to be installed as well – it is not an add-on.
You’ll need to mount the UV reactor, insert the quartz sleeve into the reactor, and set up the controller. We would recommend having a licensed plumber do this part. There are many steps to the mounting process, so be sure to check out the Installation Manual carefully.
Upon a new installation, the UV system must be disinfected. You can do so by checking for dead ends, removing the filter cartridge and filling it with bleach, reinstalling the cartridge, and flushing the chlorine solution.
Aquasana 500,000 Gallon Well Water Rhino Maintenance
You will need to clean the UV filter’s quartz sleeve on an annual basis and undergo system disinfection whenever the UV system is inoperative for any reason. The entire system should be replaced every 500,000 gallons of processed water, or once every five years. You will also need to keep an eye on the UV lamp; it will count down the number of days until it needs to be replaced.
Aquasana 500,000 Gallon Well Water Rhino Repair
- Because of the potential viruses and bacteria present in well water, users must stay vigilant to ensure that the 500,000 Gallon Well Water Rhino UV system is doing its job. If any failure occurs, water is not fit for human consumption without a 20-minute boil.
If there is an issue with the UV lamp, you can reset the lamp protection circuit by unplugging the unit for 10 seconds. You can also replace the lamp with the part that’s indicated on the reactor’s silver label.
If there are any defects in materials, the filter is covered by a 5-year limited warranty. Aquasana will replace the defective part of the product – or the entire product itself.
Aquasana 3 Stage Under-Counter Water Filters
If you would prefer to get superior filtration to just one sink, we would recommend an Aquasana 3 stage under-counter water filter. Each of Aquasana’s 3 stage water filters remove up to 99% of 88 contaminants – thus instantly transforming ordinary tap water to healthy, clean water.
There are three Aquasana 3-stage under-counter water filter systems that we highly recommend: the OptimH2O, the Claryum 3-Stage Max Flow, and the Claryum 3-Stage Under Counter. Each of these models uses Aquasana’s patented Claryum technology to remove contaminants while retaining the water’s naturally-occurring healthy minerals.
What makes these Aquasana 3-stage under-sink water filter systems so good? Well, the Claryum technology uses ion exchange and sub-micron filtration in order to remove asbestos, cysts, and heavy metals like mercury and lead. The systems’ activated carbon components will remove herbicides, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, VOCS, PFAS/PFOA, and more. The catalytic carbon filters out chloramines and chlorine, and the selective filtration retains healthy minerals like potassium, magnesium, and calcium.
The Aquasana undercounter water filter installation can be a DIY process. When you order a unit, it will come with detailed instructions. Plus, you’ll get access to a video guide that breaks down the instructions. Keep in mind that the Aquasana undersink water filter installation may differ depending on if you order any add-ons. If you need assistance, we would be happy to take care of the Aquasana 3 stage water filter installation for you.
It’s quick and easy to install replacement filters for Aquasana drinking water filters. The frequency of replacements depends on the amount of usage. Check out Aquasana’s 3 stage water filter replacement page for more information.
Now that you know the gist of Aquasana’s Undersink features, let’s take a look at the specific models.
Aquasana OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis + Claryum Undercounter Water Filtration System
The OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis and Claryum filter is a powerful undersink system that removes 95% of mercury and fluoride, 99% of asbestos and lead, and 97% of chlorine. What’s more, its remineralization technology maintains a healthy pH balance. Your drinking water, filtered by the OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis Claryum, will have vital minerals, optimal alkalinity, and a great taste.
Key characteristics of the Aquasana AQ-RO-3 OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis Fluoride water filter include:
- Ultimate Purity: This undersink model removes the most contaminants, thus delivering the best drinking water. If you want a filter that removes 5x more contaminants than other RO systems, we would highly recommend looking into the Aquasana OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis water filter.
- Say Goodbye to Fluoride: Fluoride in drinking water is linked to a risk of cancer, and many people don’t want it in their drinking water. The Aquasana OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis undersink water filter system removes over 95% of fluoride from your water, without stripping it of other minerals. It uses reverse osmosis, which is the only filtration method proven to effectively filter fluoride from tap water.
- Easy Filter Replacements: The eco-friendly filter housings twist off with ease. They are designed so that you can replace your Aquasana OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis water filter in just a few minutes.
- Long Filter Life: While the life capacity of your Aquasana OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis water filter with remineralizer depends on your usage and water quality, you can typically expect a 1 year RO membrane life, a 1-year remineralizer life, and a 6-month carbon/Claryum filter life.
Aquasana Claryum 3-Stage Max Flow Undersink Water Filter System
The 3-stage Claryum Undercounter Max Flow filter is an upgraded version to the regular Claryum 3-stage system. It features 800 gallons of filter life, in addition to a 44% faster flow rate.
Undersink Installation: Aquasana OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis + Claryum, 3-Stage Under Counter, and 3-Stage Max Flow
To install one of Aquasana’s undersink models, follow these steps:
- Turn off and disconnect your cold water supply.
- Attach the supplied brass tee to the shut off valve and cold water supply line.
- Attach the 3/8” white tube to the brass tee. Secure with the provided compression nut and then slide the plastic sleeve onto the white tube. Place the brass insert into the tube’s opening, and push the tubing’s tip into the tee’s opening. Tighten the compression nut to compress the sleeve and create a seal.
- Install the faucet and connect it to the ¼” outlet tubing.
- Choose a space under your sink to install the filter. You’ll need it to be at least 12” away from the bottom of your cabinet. Mark the wall screw placements – the holes should be 98 mm apart.
- Drill the holes and mount the unit into the wall. Attach each sump to the bottom of the housing.
- Connect supply lines – be sure to insert the 3/8” and ¼” tubing completely.
- Turn on the cold water and check for any leaks. Run the water for at least 20 minutes.
Undersink Maintenance: Aquasana OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis + Claryum, 3-Stage Under Counter, and 3-Stage Max Flow
You will need to replace the OptimH2O filter every 6 months or per 600 gallons. The 3-Stage Max Flow’s life is increased to every 800 gallons. If you want the longest lasting filter, the OptimH2O’s RO membrane and remineralizer last for 1 year. The model also comes with a 2-year limited warranty in case of defects. Be sure to change your system’s battery each time that you install replacement filters. The battery is included when you order replacement cartridges.
Undersink Repairs: Aquasana OptimH2O Reverse Osmosis + Claryum, 3-Stage Under Counter, and 3-Stage Max Flow
If you find that your system is filtering too slowly, this is an indicator that you need to be changing the pre-filter cartridge more often. If you experience a hose connection leak, disconnect the hose and reseat it. When you are removing or tightening sumps for repair or maintenance, be sure not to use tools! Hand-tighten them only, or else you might damage them and cause a leak.
