    Aquapure Undersink Filter Water System

A 3M Aquapure undersink water filter system removes sediment, lead, the taste and odor of chlorine, MTBE, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from your drinking water. All 3M Aqua pure models use reverse osmosis to provide you with cleaner and clearer water quality. In this guide, we’ll take a closer look at Aquapure 3MRO301, 3MRO401, and 3MRO501.

    Aquapure 3MRO301

The 3m aqua-pure 3mro301 sqc3 reverse osmosis system can filter 8.28 gallons per day. The system features self-cleaning technology, thus extending the life of its RO membrane cartridges. It has a slim design; you can install it in small spaces.

Because of its Sanitary Quick Change design for filter system heads, you can easily and quickly replace filter cartridges. You’ll have a much lower risk of contaminating your filter media during the change out.

Since the 3MRO301 is equipped with an automatic shut off valve, you can conserve water while the system isn’t in use. The system shuts down when the tank is full, and it will turn back on when a refill is needed. The membrane capsule has a built-in valve where you can check and control flow – use this to prolong your system’s life. A new valve is included with every new filter cartridge.

    Aquapure 3MRO401

The 3m aqua pure 3mro401 reverse osmosis filtration system can filter over double the amount of water per day when compared to the previous model. Its GPD production is 18.95, to be exact. The 3MRO401’s granulated pre-filter made of granulated carbon helps protect the reverse osmosis membrane, and its 5-micron carbon/sediment pre-filter increases the sediment holding capacity.

Lastly, its 10-micron carbon post-filter facilitates excellent water flow from the faucet. The system is designed for use with chlorinated and non-chlorinated well and municipal systems. As with the previous model, the Aquapure 3MRO401 has an auto shut off system and the Sanitary Quick Change feature.

    Aquapure 3MRO501

Out of the other 3M models, the Aqua pure 3MRO501 Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System has the highest filtration rate: 36.78GPD. It uses the same pre and post-filters, as well as a reverse osmosis membrane.

Furthermore, it also utilizes an auto shut off feature and is designed for well and municipal systems alike. The Aquapure 3MRO501 uses a compact pump design; you can install the system in a central location within your home, and its lines can be run to multiple appliances and faucets.

      Aquapure 3MRInstallation

We recommend using a professional installation service like High Water Standard for all three models, as the process can be quite difficult. If you are set on doing it yourself though, this guide will help walk you through the process.

Here’s what you get with all three 3M models: the system, faucet, post-carbon block, sediment, and granulated carbon filters, carbon block post-filter, and a membrane module.

When performing aqua pure 3MRO301 installation, aqua pure 3mro401 installation, or aqua pure 3MRO501 installation, follow these instructions.

      1. Determine the installation location. It can be under a sink or in a basement (for the latter, additional tubing may be needed).
      2. Prepare the area. If you are installing the system under the sink, remove anything that is stored under the sink, and set up light if necessary. If you are doing a basement installation, determine whether you will need special hardware or mounting brackets. Inspect your cold water supply line to see if you will need any fittings besides the ones that are included in the kit.
      3. Prepare the appliance. Make sure that all of the system’s parts are included in the box. Next, check whether the empty tank’s air supply is at 7 psi, and adjust it if necessary. Install the RO membrane cartridge into the system.
      4. Create a mounting hole for the faucet. This step is only necessary if there is not already a hole provided that can accommodate the RO faucet.
      5. Mount the faucet. In most undercounter installations, you will need to use the faucet’s air gap. If you are installing in the basement, it isn’t necessary to use the built-in air cap – as long as one is located somewhere else on the drain line.
      6. Install the stem adapter. Open your faucet and turn off the cold water supply in order to relieve pressure. Find the cold water stem that’s located on the underside of your faucet fixture. Screw in the faucet stem’s cold water feed tube. Then, grab the faucet adapter that came with your system. Place the black gasket in the threaded adapter; then, tighten the cold water stem underneath the sink. Make sure that you don’t over tighten it and that you can easily access the ¼” side connection.
      7. Prefill the storage tank and sanitize it. We always recommend pre-filling your storage tank so there’s pressure. This way, you can check for any leaks and flush out the carbon postfilter. Remove the storage tank’s protective cover and pour the sanitizing granules into the end of the tank. Apply PTFE tape (which isn’t included) to the threaded tank connection, and then install the tank valve onto the connection. Connect one end of the 3/8” yellow tubing to the tank valve’s tube fitting. Connect the other end of that same tubing to the included 3/8” by ¼” union connector. Next, connect the ¼” orange feedwater tubing to the alternate end of the union connector. Open the cold water supply valve and let the tank fill up – this will take around 3 minutes. Shut both the tank valve and the cold water supply valve when the tank is full. Disconnect the yellow tubing and let the tank sanitize for 15 minutes or more.
      8. Install the drain connection. Make sure that your drain piping is in good condition. Install the drain saddle before the trap and either on the horizontal or vertical tailpiece. Do not install the drain saddle near a garbage disposal’s outlet, because this may cause the RO drain line to plug up.
      9. Install the storage tank and filtration assembly. In most cases, the filtration assembly will be positioned near the front of the sink cabinet so you can easily access it. And, typically, the storage tank is installed towards the back of the cabinet. Upon installation, you may mount the tank either horizontally or vertically.
      10.  Make tubing connections once all of the system’s components are in place. You should make sure that tubing runs along the cabinet’s contours so that it doesn’t interfere with the storage area. Use fasteners (such as insulated staples) to secure it.
      11. Install the hookup for the ice maker (this is optional). Make sure to shut off the icemaker before installing the hookup. Only turn it on again once the RO system has drained a few times and the storage tank is full of water.
      12. Start the system. Open up the cold water supply valve and look for any leaks. Open the storage tank valve – then lift your faucet’s handle. Close the handle once a steady stream of water begins to flow. Wait for 5 minutes and then check for any leaks.
      13. Flush the appliance for 24 hours by opening the faucet and the feed water valve. When it is fully flushed, fill the tank and drain it. As soon as it fills once more, the system is ready to be used.

      Aquapure 3MR Maintenance

In order to keep your system’s water filters working as long as possible, there are preventative maintenance measures you can follow. Even though the RO membrane only needs to be replaced every 3 years, have a professional service like Higher Water Standard look at it every 6 – 12 months.

During each service, the system cartridges should be sanitized and the tank pressure should be set to the optimum level. Furthermore, all O rings should be inspected and/or replaced in order to prevent any leaks.

If you want to sanitize your storage tank and full system, you can do so by adding ½ teaspoon of bleach to the tank when it’s empty. Fill it up with water and then let it drain. If there is still the taste of bleach in the next tank, drain and fill it up once more.

If you haven’t used your appliance for more than one month, you’ll need to remove the filter cartridges, turn them upside down to drain the water out, and store them in the refrigerator. Sanitize the system and then reinstall the filter cartridges. Aquapure 3MR Repair

There are some common issues that you may run into when using one of the 3M models. If you need expert assistance and reside in NYC, North New Jersey, or Long Island, reach out to High Water Standard. We can get your water filtration system back into great shape. Some issues that may occur that require aqua pure 3MRO301 repair, aqua pure 3mro401 repair, and aqua pure 3MRO501 repair include:

      • Leakage at the faucet, the filter cartridge head, the fittings, or the drain saddle
      • After draining the tank, there isn’t a steady drip coming from the open faucet
      • A gurgling or dribbling noise coming from the drain
      • Chlorine odor or taste after sanitization

Aqua Pure Whole House Water Filter

The 3m aqua pure whole house water filtration system improves all incoming water in your house, and it has a peak flow rate of 20 gallons per minute. Such house water filtration systems use carbon block filtration, scale inhibition media, and non-woven pleat media to reduce the taste and odor of chlorine, scale build-up, and nominal microns. If you have several sinks that need pure water, we recommend using this or another house water filter system.

      Aqua Pure Filter Price

Because the Aquapure 3MRO301 has the lowest GDP capacity, it is the most affordable 3M model. The price of the model depends on the distributor. The list price is $737, but it is currently on sale on AquaPure’s website for $417. The list price for the 3MRO401 is $843, but it is selling for $477. The 3MRO501’s list price is $1,499.47, and it is on sale for $1,146.47.

And, lastly, the Aquapure 3M AP900 Whole House Water Filtration System can be found for a mere $300 on average. These may seem like high prices at first glance. However, since the models reduce sediment and chlorine taste and odor (while also maintaining good flow rates), we believe they are worth the price tag.

      Aqua Pure Filter Replacement

The 3M models’ disposable pre-filter cartridges and the post filter cartridges should be replaced once per year at a minimum. The stainless steel head will not need to be replaced when you change out the cartridges. You should install an RO membrane replacement filter at least once every 3 years. Keep in mind that the life of your pre-cartridges will depend on the quality of your water – whereas your postfilter cartridge’s effectiveness is dependent on the length of service.

You should be sure to test your water on occasion (every 6-12 months) in order to make sure your water quality is satisfactory. We recommend making a note in your calendar for when to order a replacement cartridge. You should be sure to undergo Aqua pure water softener repair and replacements (if you added a water softener on to the system).

      FAQ

Q: How do you change Aquapure whole house filters?

To replace the pre- and post-filter cartridges, drain the tank and close the cold water supply valve. Let the system depressurize, and then remove its cover and twist the cartridge clockwise. Pull it out and twist the new cartridge into place. Open the supply valve back up and check for leaks. Flush 2 or more gallons of water through the filter before using it.

Q: Where can you buy 3M water filters?

You can’t buy the water filters directly from 3M’s website. However, you can choose to purchase them from Aquapure’s site or from hardware stores like Home Depot.

Q: How long does an Aquapure filter last?

Typically, Aquapure water filters last 12 months – although, RO membranes can last for up to 3 years. Just be sure to look out for any signs of the filters losing their effectiveness.
